WTF: Meal Planning

Happy Taco Tuesday to those that celebrate!

Welcome to the 2nd WTF, this time focused on Meal Planning.

The Meal Planning page has recently been redesigned to make it easier to navigate and, hopefully, a lot more useful.

Planning your meals

On the iPhone, you can add recipes to a date with just a few taps. On larger screens, like an iPad, you can drag recipes from the suggestion menu directly onto a date.

And you aren’t limited to recipes. You can also add pretty much anything you’d like to your meal plan. Maybe it’s ramen, hot dogs, or even Olive Garden. (be sure to get there by 4:15 to beat the old folks)

Once you’ve added recipes to your meal plan, you can pull all of the ingredients directly into your grocery list with the tap of a button. No more manually adding every ingredient from every recipe.

You can also sync your meal plan with your calendar, so your meals show up alongside the rest of your life in the calendar app of your choice.

Thank you so much for helping test Taco Tuesday. Your feedback has been incredibly valuable, and I’d love to hear any suggestions or ideas you have. Keep an eye out for a new beta this evening, if it hasn't dropped already.

You can always reach me directly at patw@tacotuesdayapp.com.

And if you know someone who would enjoy helping test Taco Tuesday, feel free to share the TestFlight link:

Thanks again!

I hope tacos are on the menu for dinner tonight.

Bonus WTF: The Web Version!

Taco Tuesday is an iOS app, but it also has a web version at tacotuesdayapp.com.

You can use your Taco Tuesday username and password to log in, and the web version has nearly all of the same features as the iOS app, including managing your recipes, meal planning, and managing your grocery list.

It doesn’t have all of the platform integrations that the iOS version does, but it has about 95% of the same features.

The web version is especially handy for:

  • Older devices that can’t run the iOS app
  • Doing some meal planning on your computer at work (I won’t tell)
  • Managing your grocery list from your Android phone
  • Anyone who just prefers using a bigger screen

So if you’ve been using the iOS app but haven’t checked out the web version, give it a try!

Happy meal planning, and as always, happy taco-ing!
